ALAN JAY KAUFMAN AWARDED LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD

(July 28, 2023) – H.W. Kaufman Group, a privately held, global insurance organization, today announced that Alan Jay Kaufman, Chairman, President and CEO, has been recognized by Business Insurance with the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award and inducted into the Insurance Hall of Fame.

The honor recognizes industry leaders annually who have made outstanding contributions to the risk management and insurance sector throughout their careers. The previous winners include transformative leaders who have had an immeasurable impact on the industry.

Mr. Kaufman formally received the award during the Business Insurance U.S. Insurance Awards ceremony on July 19 in New York City

Under Mr. Kaufman’s leadership, Kaufman has evolved into a global powerhouse. Through a combination of organic growth and strategic acquisitions, Kaufman today operates a portfolio of specialty insurance and risk management organizations across North America, South America, Europe and the U.K.

In addition to championing more than 20 acquisitions since 2010, Mr. Kaufman pioneered the establishment of Kaufman Institute, a world-class online and classroom hub dedicated to expanding the knowledge and skill of associates and insurance professionals.

Among his philanthropic commitments to higher education Mr. Kaufman endowed a Professorship in Insurance at the Eli Broad College of Business at Michigan State University. The endowment provides for a comprehensive program that engages students in insurance and risk management. These studies highlight the numerous opportunities from a career in insurance.

Additionally, Mr. Kaufman actively serves on numerous Boards, including Business Leaders for Michigan, Detroit Zoological Society, Detroit Economic Club; St. John’s University Greenberg School of Insurance, Risk Management and Actuarial Science in New York City, and Walsh College (Detroit). Mr. Kaufman is also the immediate Past President of the United Jewish Foundation of Metropolitan Detroit.
